Facial massage
Why does facial skin need to be cleansed before a massage?

And how we do it at Chill City SPA to make it really effective
Facial massage is one of those treatments that brings an immediate sense of relief, relaxation and freshness. However, in order for it to work as it should - intensively, deeply and safely - the skin must be properly prepared. The first, absolutely crucial stage is thorough cleansing of the skin.
Many people wonder why this is so important. After all, the skin looks clean, especially if it was washed at home just before the visit. However, much more accumulates on the surface of our face every day than we can see with the naked eye.
Why is cleansing so necessary?
- For the massage to be effective, dust particles, sebum, makeup remnants or SPF filters create a thin layer that makes it difficult for cosmetics to glide properly. If we do not remove impurities, hand movements will not be as precise and the effects will be weakened.
- So that the active ingredients can work. During the massage, we use oils and cosmetics rich in nutrients. On uncleaned skin, they are much less likely to penetrate deep into the epidermis.
- To avoid irritating the skin. Pollution combined with intense friction may cause micro-damage, redness or a "rash" of imperfections. Cleansed skin is safer and more resistant to touch.
What does facial cleansing at Chill City SPA look like?
At Chill City SPA, cleansing is not a "quick preliminary stage" that we do out of habit. This is a conscious, precise part of the ritual, on which the success of the entire procedure largely depends. We make sure it is pleasant and soothing - already at this stage the guest begins to feel that the body and mind really slow down.
- Step 1: Gentle preliminary cleansing We remove makeup and impurities from the skin surface, using cosmetics matched to the skin type. We work slowly and carefully, treating this stage as a mini-preparatory massage
- Step 2: Thorough proper cleansing In the next stage, we cleanse the skin more deeply - so that it is perfectly prepared for the massage. This is the moment when the skin becomes fresh, smooth and ready to receive active substances
- Step 3: Peeling tailored to the guest's needs To enhance the effects of the massage, we usually perform a peeling with cleansing particles, which removes dead skin and smoothes the skin.
However, at the guest's request, we can replace it with a milder enzymatic peeling - ideal for sensitive, vascular or irritation-prone skin. If someone prefers a massage without this stage, the peeling can be omitted - the decision is always left to the guest.
Why is our cleansing so thorough?
Because we want each massage to:
- was as effective as possible,
- gave quick, noticeable results,
- was safe even for sensitive skin,
- combined beauty benefits with deep relaxation.
We work in accordance with the philosophy of Chill City SPA - with attention, tenderness and respect for the natural processes of the skin. Cleansing is the first step that allows us to take care of the guest's face as it deserves.
Cleansed skin is the basis for a successful facial massage.
Thanks to this:
- hand movements are smooth and precise,
- active ingredients act deeper,
- the skin is more radiant and smooth,
- and the whole ritual is safe and pleasant.
At Chill City SPA, we pay special attention to this stage because we believe that it is the details that determine the quality of the experience.
