SPA therapist, masseur, physiotherapist - who is it?

The offer of treatments, the location, the ratings of others, the level of prices, the quality of cosmetics, a nice website - these are the aspects we most often pay attention to when choosing a SPA. However, one of the most important aspects of the SPA's success is the staff - people who transfer their energy to others every day through touch, soothe pain, tension and stress, listen and advise.
Is a masseur just a person who performs a massage, or is he also a therapist who helps get rid of pain in a SPA? About the role of a masseur in a SPA in an interview with Dominika Pospiech - SPA therapist at Chill City SPA.
A good masseur is...?
A good masseur is a person with a holistic approach to guests visiting the spa. The people we meet during a massage session come to us with a baggage of internal emotions, feelings and experiences that, when suppressed, cause various types of tension in the body. These are headaches, spine pain or pain of nervous origin, pain associated with staying in a sitting position for too long. Our job is to bring relief to the person who comes for a massage. Relief does not always mean getting rid of pain, sometimes you need something more - relaxation, regeneration, getting rid of excessive stress, and sometimes sleep. It happens that our guests simply fall asleep during the massage. Therefore, in our work we have always combined knowledge in the field of anatomy, physiotherapy, osteopathy, pain therapy, but also psychology and aromatherapy.
What do you like most about your job?
The most satisfying moment in our work is the time when we feel that the guest trusts us, when after a few sessions he opens up and starts talking about his feelings. Very often it turns out that these emotions, experiences and problems have an impact on our current physical and mental state. This moment tells us about the trust that we have managed to build thanks to hours of diligent work with the body.
Does this mean that you talk a lot to people who come for a massage?
It is always an individual matter. There are people who need to come and be silent, they need touch, relief, a solution to their pain, they don't want to talk.
Therefore, we never impose the number of questions on the first visit and we do not provide a lot of information. If anyone wants to talk to us, we'll be happy to listen.
This is a very important feature of a masseur - the ability to listen.
Which specialist can help?
Well, a lot depends on the person who comes to us. We meet many different people every day, including people who cannot be helped by pills. Constant visits to various specialists, they have correct test results, and yet they are unable to function normally. They look for help from various therapists and sometimes in the end they come to us and it turns out that they feel relief and see improvement and this is extremely motivating in our work.
What does your working day look like? Do you massage all the time?
Performing a massage is a lot of physical effort, but also an exchange of energy with the person being massaged. That's why at ChillCity we arrange work so that each masseur has time to rest. We work in a great team, we complement each other very well, we like working together. Thanks to this, we always have a large portion of optimism, which we are happy to share with our guests. I believe that people who decide to have a massage at ChillCity feel this way.
What does the work of a masseur mean to you?
This is my mission, I love this job because I feel I can give people something more. I meet people from all over the world, sometimes I massage celebrities, sometimes presidents of large companies, sometimes pregnant mothers, and sometimes babies. Every person who comes to me is equal, status or age does not matter, what matters is that I can help them.
